The game was played in a heavy downpour of rain at the start and a gale-force wind that blew in over the Lennon stand and across the field. In fact the wind was so bad, that each side had a number of bad wides from play and to be fair the players did everything right as the ball left their hurleys it looked destined to go over the crossbar. Naomh Eoin-Miseal made all the early running and struck five wides in the opening eight minutes. Rangers had four in the first fourteen minutes.
